1) write about the central idea of each piece.
The central idea of this piece can be seen in the reflection of this image. Though this image is focusing on nature, the reflection shows that they co-exist, and you can not have one without the other. Nature and human life support each other, even if the existence of humans over power that of natures role in this world.

2)write about the progression and development of your theme.
The progression and development of my theme, has moved along to show(in every way I can), how nature and humans can co-exist. With every image i take, my idea stays the same, while I move to show the connection between humans and nature. From here, I hope to develop another relationship, in which i can continue my theme.

1) write about the central idea of each piece
The central idea of this image is to capture nature trying to survive in it's natural state, away from Human interference. But in the background because there is a human element disrupting the shot, the focus of the image revolves to the mysterious blur. The importance of the human interference in this shot, is to show the relationship between us and nature and how we co-exist. Because the focus of the images goes to the person in the background, the meaning of the image can be interpreted as how human overpower this world.

2)Write about the progression and development of your theme
My theme is developing from this image, because I'm continuing to show the relationship between Humans and Nature, each in different elements. While creating this image, my idea stayed the same- Firstly capturing the beauty of nature, while secondly show the interference that humans. From here, I think i want to show a different element in which nature and humans co-exist.

Photographer biography and research

While researching a photographer that inspires my photography, I came across Lynn Geessman. Geessaman’s photography resembles that of 19th century photographers like,Francis Frith, yet hers indicates that there is a magical, yet curious world about nature.Born in Cleveland in 1938, Geessaman was introduced to photography while studying physics at Wellesley college. Because of her fondness in gardens,Geessaman started researching and traveling to photograph gardens in England, France, Belgium, Italy, and Germany. Among many honors that Gessaman has received are the Minnesota State Arts Board Fellowship and the Arts Midwest/NEA Regional Visual Arts Fellowship Award and a Jerome Foundation award in 1989. Geessman’s photography, accentuates places such as english gardens, or other beautiful landscapes. Her photographs, not only capture the solidtary beauty of the landscape, yet provides for a deeper significance. For instance, in one of Gessaman’s photos, she photographs a garden, in which the bushes conspire together to form the shape of a cross. Gessaman not only captures the beauty of nature, but captures what it stands for. Gessamans photos, not only inspire beauty, but capture a romantic take within it. Her photographs of gardens also stand for how humans attempt to order the natural world, containing it’s wild beauty for only it’s visitors to see. Because of the success of Gessamans works, she has been exhibited in several museum exhibitions. Geessamans work can be seen in the collection of the Philadelphia Museum of art, the Art institute of Chicago, the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, and the Biblioteque National in Paris, and among many private collections. Geessamans photography inspires me because, the whole theme of my images is to capture the natural world, and how it contributes to the everyday lives of mankind. In hopes that people will realize the beauty within the things that we use everyday, yet take for granted. In my images, I hope to inspire a connection between mankind and the natural world. That’s why I feel like I can relate to Geessaman’s images because her images stand for what I am trying to convey.

Senior ex proposal

Jaida Sinclair
project title: connection of nature and man
class: photography
instructor: miles
project due date: 01/31/2011

project description
While contemplating, my plan for my senior ex, I keep coming back to the idea of nature. I want to take pictures of how nature or the elements provide for man. for instance, we swim in the ocean, drink water, use fire for our own needs, pollute air, and tear down forests. in my photos i want to capture the elements and show the idea of how humans use them in their everyday lives.

Type of work:
I will be doing landscapes that will capture the beauty of nature, but there will also be a person somewhere in the photo to symbolize how nature provides for us.

concept:
for my photos i will be going to different locations to capture the beauty of nature. i will only be taking  pictures of how nature provides for us. to show this, i will use a person in the background of each photo, but i don't want them to be the main element of the photo.

Vision:
i would like my viewers to take in to consideration of how we take things for granted. something as beautiful as a tree, or the ocean shouldn't be cut down or polluted in. when people sit down and see the true beauty of things, that's when they actually start to think.

inspiration:
the inspiration of my theme, came from the realization of taking things for granted, hence nature.

equipment to be used:
point and shoot digital camera, natural lighting, nature

presentation:
the images will be put on a large white background and then framed with a black border.

In this photo, i hoped to convey the significance of nature through our everyday lives. I think that it's very important to realize the simplest things that benefit us, and in this case nature is one of those things. Though this is a simple image, I think that it shows the majesty of the tree, and depicts the relationship between nature and man.
